Youngstown Limited Ultrasound

Youngstown Ultrasound

Perhaps you’ve already taken a pregnancy test, or maybe not. Either way, a limited obstetrical ultrasound ensures everything is developing and growing where it is supposed to and isn’t going to endanger your life. Limited OB ultrasounds utilize high-frequency sound waves that bounce off of the fetus and produce a picture. This picture is then projected on a screen where our registered nurses are able to observe the heartbeat and other important information.

Our ultrasound nurses will answer three primary questions during your limited OB ultrasound:

  • How far along are you?

The exact date of your last period can be hard to pin down. A limited OB ultrasound can tell you how far along you really are to help you learn more about your options.

  • Are there any immediate risks such as an ectopic pregnancy?

An ectopic pregnancy is when the fertilized egg attaches to a place outside of the uterus, typically in the Fallopian tube. This can be extremely dangerous to your health and requires immediate medical attention. Our nurses determine everything is in the correct location during an ultrasound and take the additional steps needed if there are any immediate concerns.

  • Is there a heartbeat?

Even if a pregnancy test is positive, it’s important to check if it is viable. This involves seeing if there’s a heartbeat. Over 30% of pregnancies do not develop into a viable fetus, even when a test is positive.

During an ultrasound, you’re given a safe, private environment to ask questions, become informed and sort through any issues. At Pregnancy Help Center, your health and well being is our priority. If our registered nurses find something that is of concern, we’ll let you know during your appointment and take the necessary steps to provide you with the care you need.
